Why the EGL comm is not the end all of lolita

Now these are some things that i really wish someone would've said to me when i first joined the lolita fashion. I think they are very good points. This article was inspired by my ct lolitas friends.

There are a lot of elitist drama llamas on egl

 As it turns out there are a lot of annoying people in that comm who will bitch and rant about anything 'not lolita.' Ignore them and go on your way. 

While there may be a lolita handbook that has strict rules about the fashion if you don't like the rules then don't pay attention to them.

While certain things do need to be listened to, like proper skirt length, wearing a petticoat, not looking like a whore. wearing socks or tights, and a short sleeved shirt. You can pretty much do anything else you like. Seriously. If you don't think that egl/d_l wouldn't like your outfit then don't post it there. 

The 'do it yourself' attitude

Egl has a weird thing about itself that whenever someone asks a question that is a complete newbie and doesn't know a thing. They jump on that person like a bunch of sharks. Yes there is a search function, and yes it does get annoying to answer the same question over and over. But Even if you don't want to answer to the question there's no need to jump on that person for asking a question. Simply say that the search function on the user info page could answer their question. Be helpful and friendly. If you really don't want to answer the question cause it's another post about milanoo dresses being lolita. Simply write up a little welcome message to the fashion and the comm. Now i know some people will argue with me that if you truly love the fashion you'll get over the comm. (such as myself.) But that shouldn't stop people from being nice. (and i know people have been turned away from the fashion because of the people there.)

You don't have to post there

I almost never post to egl. Mostly because i'm afraid of them. The last post i made was i found two really annoying ads from milanoo using angelic prettys picture on youtube. Which was in like the beginning of July. I posted it so people could be aware and i know that egl loves to hate milanoo so i knew i wouldn't get yelled at by annoying people. I never know what to post there either, so i just don't post at all. I sometimes make comments but rarely. My point is you don't have to be a very active member of the comm to be in the fashion. You could even leave the comm if you hated the drama so much and still be a lolita. 

Seriously do whatever the fuck you want. Nobody Cares.

As pointed out by my lovely connecticut loli friends. Do whatever you want. Dress however you feel. If anyone cares ignore them. It's the internet what's the chance of ever meeting them in real life? Or if you're at a meetup/on the street ignore them also. Just know that you look lovely and you're happy. Now just so i don't have a lot of itas saying that they really aren't ita they're ~lolita~ let me word it this way. If you're out with a skirt that reaches your knees a petticoat and shirt and socks. Everything that makes a proper lolita outfit don't let anyone tell you, you're outfit sucks. Or that you're not a real lolita. If you're not out in an outfit that a normal lolita outfit is, then you really shouldn't call it ~lolita~. You should say 'lolita inspired' or something like that. Then nobody can you out for giving us a bad a name. 

Don't post your pictures if you're not ready for what's going to happen

This should be obvious but i failed this horribly. On my first day of 'attempting to be a lolita' i wore a black skirt that didn't poof, a  black/purple corset that looked awful, a short sleeved shirt, knee high socks,red and black mary Jane type shoes, and a red/black hairbow. Looking back i could've made this outfit okay if i switched out some things. But i had the basics down. (I'm so happy that no one in my school had heard of lolita.) I posted the picture to Daily_lolita hoping to get some constructive criticism and a few hellos. It was a horrible outfit but i was proud of it, so i wasn't expecting what i got.

The replies i got back were very mean and so i left d_l. I haven't been back since even though my outfits

have improved lots. I got replies such as 'You're outfit is horrible why did you even wear that?' and

'You're shoes don't match the top is terrible the hairbow doesn't match anything.' If you aren't ready for replies 

like those. Then don't post you're picture. Don't even think about it. I'm worried for you.

So This post came out a little funny but i like the overall message of it. Which is-'Don't be afraid do whatever

You want!' (if you didn't catch that from the post.) So good morning everyone. I'm really tired so i'm going to 

sleep. 

Hats and Fascinators!

Hello this a theme post from sophistique noir. It was to show yourself wearing your favorite (or only. XP) hat or fascinator. While i was down in Charlestown i had bought this fabulous fascinator from the store Filthy Rich. Which is a store that specializes in replicas of famous celebrity jewelry. I got this fascinator from the Marilyn Monroe section. I do think she looks better in it, but she was pretty much the most beautiful actress ever. So Theres a lot to compete with.

I also paired this post with an outfit post since i'm going to a bookstore today and i wanted to.

Miyuki-chan in Mirrorland review!

I know i said i would do this a few days ago but my life got strangely busy all of a sudden. So here is the sequel-ish thing to wonderland mirrorland! (this is based off through the looking glass.)

Since both are on the same dvd they have the same cover art.

So it starts off that Miyuki is all dressed for school and brushing her hair. The clocks turns to 7:31 but she doesn't panic and run out the door this time. When she finishes brushing her hair her reflection sticks her tongue out at her, reaches through the mirror and tries to kiss her.

I wouldn't bother acting surprised anymore.

Her reflection takes her hands and pulls her into the mirror where they fall into blackness. Miyuki wakes up surrounded by green and blue dots. A sword appears out of nowhere where the blade is made up of the carving of several naked women.

It has the words 'Welcome to Mirrorland' written on it backwards. While looking at the sword a bat elf fearie like thing comes flying around and lands on the sword. This bat fearie thing tries to look up her skirt and picks up Miyuki and carries her through the ground. (as in mirrorland the ground is the sky and the sky is the ground.) Then the bat thing drops her into a field of flowers.

I don't remember this anywhere in the original book.

When she lands in the field of flowers she lands on  flower which is a course of a stripper. Another flower stripper comes along to help first flower stripper up. They play with Miyuki for a while wanting her to come play with them. Miyuki runs away. Where little islands float in the sky and rivers and waterfalls are also floating.

While walking around she meets a butterfly. After talking to her for a minute Miyuki sighs and the butterfly gets blown away. 

She's pretty non offensive as a butterfly actually.

The wind then blows her away to a giant chess board. Where she has to play against her reflection to win.  The person who loses has to take their clothes off. The person who's explaining this all to her is Humpty Dumpty.

Don't ask me why the subtitles are suddenly red and in german.

 I don't know.

Glass walls come down from the sky to entrap Miyuki there. So she has to play. All of the pieces are strippers (what were you expecting?) and whenever they take out another piece that piece gets bitch slapped and it's clothes disappear.

The game goes on until Miyuki (not her reflection) wins. Her reflection takes off all her clothes and Miyuki runs away. Running through the glass and falling into some more black. She then appears in her bedroom again. Miyuki looks at the mirror making different faces to see if it reflects back. It does, so she goes back to brushing her hair. Then she grabs her bag and leaves. While the reflection turns around and smiles at you.

Then it's the end (or Never End as it puts it.) This is almost as bad as the wonderland. Theres not as much strippers and not that raping.  I wouldn't bother to own this. (Unless you really love clamp.) It's very rare as it turns out so this is a good collectors item. Just not for actual watching. 

Miyuki-chan in wonderland review

On Friday at anime club, since it was only highschoolers there we decided to watch Miyuki-chan in Wonderland Which is a very early clamp anime from 1995. It is based on Alice in wonderland. It was really funny to watch because everything was dressed like a stripper. (except the red queen which was a dominatrix.) 

     

This is the least offensive part of the anime.

It starts out with the alarm clock going off at 7:31 am. Miyuki is late for school. So she runs out the door and runs to school. But then the white rabbit appears on a skateboard and a a hole appears in pavement and they both fall into the rabbit hole.

Once she lands the white rabbit disappears and Miyuki is in a dark place. There she meets the door. Which they managed to make going through a door also very sexual.

The door knobs are her boobs and you must grab them. She does and the door puts her face into them and she goes through the door. 

Red is Cho-li and blue is To-li

Now finding Miyuki in a forest where she meets the Tweedledum and Tweedledee,  Cho-li and To-li. Where they try to kill her. Miyuki runs from them and they shoot there lazer like things at the ground cracking it. Miyuki trips and falls into the crack that was created. 

She then falls and lands in a tree above a field of flowers. The branch breaks and she falls into the flowers. In the field is a table with a teacup and kettle. It pours a cup for Miyuki when a flying heart comes by and lands in Miyukis hands. It says "drink me" on it then it flies away.

I only wish i was making this up.

 This shrinks Miyuki to wander around the field of flowers where she happens upon the tea party. Which is being held on top of a flower.

From left to right-The white rabbit, The mad hatter, and

 The doormouse.

The mad hatter sends out a non harmful purple ray to make Miyuki fly up to the flower. Once there She ignores Miyukis questions of 'Where am i?' with just the word 'here.' The mad hatter then tries to rape her, and the dormouse gives her a cup of tea, and Miyuki drinks it. She also tries to rape Miyuki. She runs away and grows back to her original size. She's now in a dark forest.

The Cheshire cat. I have no idea why she's yellow.

The Cheshire cat jumps down from the tree and pushes her to the ground and is on top of her. The cat then tries to make out with her but Miyuki's transported away before that happens. Miyuki is now  outside the Red Queens castle. 

The maidens are painting the white roses they planted.

Miyuki talks to them until The Red Queen shows up, and is very mad that white roses have been planted. All of the maidens are very excited for the red queen to punish them and they all take the blame for planting the white roses. She asks Miyuki for her name and tells her to get on her knees and lick her boots. Miyuki runs away from her and the red queen chases after cracking her whip.

While Miyuki is running away the white rabbit shows up for a little bit. Then the red queen catches her with her whip and drags her back to her. Then it's over. Miyuki wakes back up in her bedroom withe the alarm clock going off at 7:31 am. She runs back out of the house and then the anime ends. 

The only thing i can say about Miyuki-chan in Wonderland is holy shit what kind of stuff was clamp on when they created this. I love clamp and they're manga but what else can you say after seeing this? This is just really fucked up. Since this review got rather long i'll leave Mirror land till tomorrow. No it's kind of worse then Wonderland. It's not better.

Something fresh something new something borrowed and something blue!

Hello everyone. This is my blog for lolita, goth, and my life. But not my life as in 'my mom is a crack whore, and my dads a pimp and my sister is a stripper and boo hoo my life is terrible and i want everyone to read about it.' No not /that/ kind of life posts. More of what i'm doing in picture form. Cool things i found/bought, cool things i did,  outfit posts, and i have a few ideas for craft posts. Maybe other things then that.

Oh your blogs name is so cute and frilly just like hello kitty but with teacups! You must be a sweet lolita right?  This is a blog about sweet lolita?

No sorry it's not. While i love to look at some of the cute prints and even want a few. I'm not a sweet lolita. I'm more of a gothic lolita plus whatever else i wanted to wear that day. I'm not too big on labels (just because i take up so many it's hard to explain.) but if i was going to explain it would be, guro lolita, shiro, kuro, gothic, sweet, sailor, cyber lolita/goth, deathrock  lolita, classic lolita, victorian goth, perky goth, negative, (same as shiro up there.) electric goth and my brain is failing me but probably a few more. As you can see i mix and match everything i'm not what you think i am even when i tell you. But i do love tea and i probably have more then four cups a day, i love teacups too. I think they are beautiful things created and i love that they are handpainted. I just think they are adorable. I went to the Charleston museum a while back when i was in south carolina and they had teacups, plates, bowls, and other chinaware that they had found pieces of and put back together. It made my little heart cry when i saw the almost perfect teacups that had a few pieces missing. It was so sad but beautiful at the same time.

Despite what the blog says my real name is not Cali. It is Jill. But a few years ago or maybe just one or two i was in this guild on neopets called Mes Amis. Where i met wonderful and amazing people. Before that when i was created the account Calictii i wanted a name in my account name so i came up with Cali. Now in Mes Amis the five of us that had created the guild got into council and we all put whatever our name was then a pastry or something sweet. So i put mine down as Cali Cookie. It's taken a few funny turns into the real world but mostly it's my internet name. Except on livejournal and facebook.
I'm 18 and i live in connecticut in the us. I'm going to college in the town next to us. I just graduated highschool on June 23rd. It rained but it was okay because it was hot in our gowns. I like anime and i go to my towns anime club. I like reading and was in my highschools book club, i'm also a writer and a photographer. I love pokemon and collect Turtwig+line, skymin, anything else i damn want to.
I'm bisexual but i like girls more then guys cause i can't do anything farther then hug a guy. If you've got a problem with that then GTFO! I don't need you here. It probably won't come up much anyways just thought i'd let you know.
